QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Is there a difference between flying and gliding?

An aeroplane starts flying at its take-off with the help of engines. If all the engines of the planes were shut down, the gliding process starts from that point. Note: some planes have gliding capabilities and some will have a random fall. click here for more details and references, gliders and non

gliders......http://www.gliders.uk.com/

Gliding is the capability of floating in the air similar to flying, and descend slowly. Asudden drop, or a random fall can not be considered as gliding. Jumping from parachute is not gliding. Its falling towards the earth with a controlled speed and help of a guide. A parachute jumper guides the parachute as required.  An astronaut floats in the space and not glide. An eagle flies high flapping its wings, but can also start gliding with fully spread motionless wings.  Hang gliding is a perfect example as seen in the image.
