ALOO TIKKI / Potato Cakes / Potato Cutlets

Hello friends, today I will share my recipe of Aloo tikki wid u all. These are also known as potato cakes/potato cutlets and are very easy to make. You can also refrigerate them for a couple of days. But be sure to consume them in a couple of days or a week max as the mixture may start getting watery. So not delaying u any further, here goes the recipe :)

Boil the potatoes till tender.I took around 700 gms and pressure cooked it as it takes less time.

Remove the skin and mash it roughly.u can see there are some chunks of potatoes also in my pic.Be sure to mash it when its hot as it becomes easier to mash it. You must have noted that I always try to add as many pictures as possible for the readers to get exact idea on every stage of the process of cooking. I hope you find the pics usefull.

finely chop 1 medium onion,3-4 green chillies, half bunch of coriander & mint leaves,salt,1/2 tsp red chilli powder,1/2 tsp garam masala powder,1/2 tsp whole coriander,1/2 tsp dried pomegranet seeds,1/2 tsp mustard seeds, juice of 1 lemon.

Add the spices to the mashed potatoes and mix till well incorporated.

Form in a round shape.Bead an egg and dip the tikki into the egg.At this stage, if u want u can coat with bread crumbs. But be sure to refrigerate for 30 mins to make the bread crumbs stick properly and then fry.For vegeterians, u can dip the tikki in gram flour (besan) batter made with some water and then fry it.

Heat little oil and fry the tikki on medium flame on 1 side and then flip it and fry on low flame till cooked on the other side.

Serve with green chutney or make yummy sandwiches. :)
